Solar Farm Decision Day

A decision on whether plans for a 130-hectare solar farm near Aldenham can go-ahead is due to be made at the Hertsmere Borough Council Planning Committee meeting on Thursday (11 November) which is to be held at the Civic Office in Borehamwood.

A planning application was submitted at the beginning of this year by Elstree Green Limited seeking permission for the construction and operation for 35 years for a grid-connected solar photovoltaic farm with battery storage and other ancillary infrastructure on land north of Butterfly Lane and surrounding Hilfield Farm, and west of Hilfield Lane.

The application is due to go before our committee on Thursday (11 November) at our Civic Offices in Borehamwood.

A live webcast of the meeting can be viewed from 6pm here

Members of the public are being urged to watch the meeting online as capacity at the Civic Offices is severely limited to enable social distancing.

Anyone attending the meeting in person should follow Covid safety practices, including wear a face mask and regularly sanitise their hands.

To view the delegated report on the application go to Item 5D on the meeting agenda here.

The proposal is recommended for approval by the Hertsmere Borough Council officers, subject to a satisfactorily completed Section 196 agreement with the developer.
