Aldenham Parish Council (APC) is continuing to fight the Solar Plant application on 320 acres of Green Belt land surrounding Hilfield Farm and land north of Butterfly Lane.

The Ecologist employed by APC to write the report for the Appeal in October, visited the site last week, and whilst they were there commented on the sheer size of the application, as well as the impact on the landscape and the numerous public footpaths that run across the site.

They were also surprised to see that there were many crops being grown in the fields that, if approved, would be lost to the solar panels at a time when more food production is required.

The Ecologists report’ should be sent to APC’s Barrister by 25th July 2022, as there is a Case Management Conference on 11th August to be held by the Planning Inspector ahead of the Inquiry in October.

APC’s Planning Committee also reviewed the revised planning application from the developer at their meeting on 4th July 2022, and reached the same conclusion as they did on the first application. When making their comments to Hertsmere Borough Council (HBC) members also added that APC do not think that this revised application should be considered until the outcome of the Appeal is known.

APC will continue to keep the Community updated as and when there are any further developments to report.
