Neil Payne

Aldenham Parish Council were saddened to hear this morning that its former Chairman Neil Payne had died the previous day following complications after an operation.

Neil Payne, served Radlett in many ways over a 45 year period before he and his wife moved away from the area. Neil has been very active in local politics over this whole period of time. Many of you may not be aware quite how much he has done locally, so here is a brief summary of some of his positions:

Aldenham Parish Councillor 1991 to 1995 returning in 2008 after retiring from Hertsmere Borough Councillor, and then becoming Chairman of the council between 2013 to 2018.

Member of the Platt Foundation 1991 to 2019.

Hertsmere Borough Councillor 1999 to 2007, and Leader of the Council from 2001 to 2006.

One of the original directors of the Radlett Centre, and Member of the Board of the Radlett Centre Trust 1995 to 2018.

The initial Chairman of the Radlett Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group, stepping down when he moved away, but still kept interested in the plan and was very proud when it was finally adopted.

Aldenham Parish Council have sent condolences to Neil’s wife a family.

There will be a memorial service for Neil in Radlett in the New Year, details of which will be posted on the APC website.
